CILWANA STUDIO · SRINAGAR, KASHMIR

Heirlooms of Quiet Splendour

Handcrafted Kashmiri footwear and couture-inflected clothing, shaped by heritage, leather, thread, and time.
Established in Kashmir, 2018

We do not make products.
We compose quiet inheritances—
each piece, a letter written to time.

Cilwana Studio is a luxury Kashmiri maison of handcrafted juttis, camel leather footwear, and couture-inflected clothing. Every piece is made by artisan hands in Srinagar, with materials and methods that the Valley has refined over centuries.

The embroidery

A needle held steady for seven centuries.

Aari embroidery is a living tradition, passed from hand to hand across generations in Kashmir. Each stitch is a deliberate act of patience, precision, and lineage—never replicated by machine, never rushed.

The artisan's needle moves with the rhythm of centuries, guided by knowledge that cannot be taught in classrooms. This is craft as heritage, luxury as time, beauty as truth.

CILWANA ATELIER

A couture practice rooted in the old way.

We founded Cilwana in 2018 with a single conviction: that the garment traditions of Kashmir — the heavy silk of the anarkali, the measured fall of the lehenga, the precision of the jutti — were worth preserving not in a museum but in the wardrobes of women who would actually wear them.

Every couture commission begins with a consultation and ends with a handwritten delivery note. Between those two moments, between six and twenty weeks of work pass through the hands of craftspeople we know by name.

THE COUTURE PROCESS
OUR STORY

From the Valley, with everything we know.

Cilwana Studio was established in Srinagar in 2018, with one clear conviction: that the most beautiful things in the world were already being made in Kashmir — they simply needed a house that understood how to present them.

We began with handcrafted juttis and camel leather footwear. We grew into couture-inflected clothing, bespoke tailoring, and a language of embroidery — Tilla, Aari, Mukaish and Zari — that connects every piece to a lineage older than any brand.
